About Us

The AIC Launceston opened in George St, Launceston in 1958 as a social club to help connect Italian migrants now living in Australia before moving to our current location at Westbury Rd, Prospect in 1978. From humble beginnings, the Australian Italian Club Launceston has grown to become a vibrant part of Prospect enjoyed by all members of the public.

Over the past 40+ years, we have played host to a wide-range of events ranging from local and international musicians and sportspeople. We have hosted thousands of social club events and been fortunate enough to host many local residents’ Wedding Receptions, Birthday Parties, Funerals & Wakes, Corporate Dinners, Sports Dinners and Fundraising Events.

Located on an expansive property in the heart of Prospect, we are also the home to the Launceston City Soccer Club and also boast facilities for Social Tennis, Indoor Bowls, Boxing/MMA and other local sporting events.

Don’t be fooled by the name! The Australian Italian Club is for everyone – regardless of Nationality!

Our History

In 1996, Life Member of the Australian Italian Club, Mr. Sebastiano Bordin OAM, began collecting photos and information on the early Italian migrants who came to Tasmania in the early 50’s.

We acknowledge the assistance of the many people who have helped make this collection possible.
